Born of Obsidian is the first full length release by Kurokuma since their inception. This aural codex represents the sum of the Sheffield-based entity’s victories, struggles and experiences thus far.

The album’s five tracks are thematically bound, with each allegorically channeled through Mesoamerican myth and blood-soaked history. The result is a savage album, unmoored from the spirit of the age, summoning an essence at once unseeing yet all-knowing.

Now dig beneath the thin crust of civilisation, and bear witness to the blood of the earth.

OMG, late to the party but this is some of the best occult infused doom stoner tackle I've ever heard. Reference points include Sabbath (obvs), especially with the Ozzy-esque vocals but there's also the melodiousness of early Heep mixing with a more contemporary occult rock sound. It starts in the 70's and makes it to the present day. The riffs are huge but it's their way with a hook that elevates this from your average doom/stoner fare. Very wonderful indeed! egg-magoo

An amazing album 👍🏻 It took me a while to get into Boss Keloid’s groove. I knew intellectually that it was my kinda music but I didn’t take to Melted On The Inch like I thought I would. I think listening to lots of modern jazz limbered me up! This is really complicated prog rock with heavy ass guitars added for street cred. I’m so happy that anyone might consider this band cool. They’re fucking cool to me but music like this has been vilified in the past. All hail the new Gentle Giant! Crinklechips
